CURRICULUM

A Beka

Cumorah Academy utilizes the A Beka Curriculum, which is a Christian faith-based comprehensive and integrated curriculum which challenges students of all ages and abilities from Jr. Kindergarten through twelfth grade to excel in all subject areas. A full scope & sequence of subject matter is available to all parents. In conjunction with academic mastery, Cumorah Academy teaches critical thinking skills, nurtures independence, and cultivates character development. Students are taught the accumulated wisdom of the past so that they will have a firm foundation from which to evaluate the present and make proper decisions for the future. Our goal in providing high moral values and standards offers our students a well rounded wholesome environment in which to learn.

The Nevada State Board of Education has examined and approved the A Beka curriculum, and has found A Beka to exceed the state standards and requirements. A Beka has also been accredited by the following organizations; The Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS); The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA); and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), which is the largest accrediting agency in the world and is one of only six agencies that accredit both public and private educational institutions. SACS CASI accreditation is recognized throughout the world as a symbol of quality in education.

The A Beka curriculum has designed a Jr. Kindergarten readiness program which teaches children to read through phonics instruction with one to two vowel words in small readers. Children learn number concepts 1 to 20 and counting from 1 to 100. The curriculum also includes manuscript writing, art, music, poetry, and language development activities preparatory to entering Kindergarten.
